Not all those who wonder are lost

Bill Bryson says there is nothing that excites a greater sense of childlike wonder than to be in a place where you are ignorant of almost everything. Your whole existence becomes a series of interesting guesses and emotions.
That exhilarating feeling of teetering in the unknown, the urge to chase the sunset, stopping to admire a new view, listening to your favourite albums while driving, learning to be lost in the moment, the desire to be completely zoned out of all your troubles, and to be content in your surroundings whilst feeling truly peaceful.
And as with any journey, who you share your experiences with is just as, if not more important than the destination.

So there is this guy who I recently went on a road trip with. He is absolutely gorgeous to look at, but there is something deeper about him that really took me by surprise. I got to know him better on our adventure. We both share the same desires to experience things for the first time. As I look at him, I see his eyes light up as if he sees the world for the first time. I love looking at him without him knowing and really see his passion to live in the moment. He reminded me to take life a little less seriously. He makes me smile when he laughs, he gives me butterflies when he talks, and reminds me how to have fun! His spontaneous outlook on life brought so much positive energy to the adventure it was refreshing.
You see, people all around the world are different, but our hearts beat for the same emotions. This is the one and only universal human connection and I could feel that when our eyes met every time. We have the same appreciation for each other and what we were experiencing together.

I came back from the road trip feeling far from lost. For the first time in a long time, I felt really happy. I don’t know what will happen the next time I see him and neither of us know what the future holds, but what I do know for sure, is that he made me feel alive again and right now, that’s more than enough!
